Refurbishment of 144” long synchronous condenser poles
RPR Hydro completed the complete refurbishment of the poles of a 1200-RPM synchronous condenser installed in New Brunswick. In addition to the replacement of the ground and turn-to-turn insulation, the curvature of the coil was corrected, the straightness improved, and the hydrogen cooling circuit was cleaned and realigned. One piece, custom moulded, and PTFE coated insulating collars were installed. End plates were replaced and realigned to correct a cracking problem.
